Job Description:

Under the direction of leadership, the Lab/Radiology Technician performs and assists with all duties related to specimen collection, laboratory testing and/or diagnostic radiology procedures.

Job Duties:

  • Competently performs phlebotomy procedures.
  • Collects necessary laboratory specimens for on-site or reference lab testing per provider orders.
  • Organizes work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling, sorting specimens, checking labeling and logging specimens.
  • Maintains quality results by running standards and controls, verifies equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and trouble shooting, calibrates equipment using approved procedures, and monitors quality control measures.
  • Contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitor, physicians and co-workers by following established procedures and complying with all regulatory requirements.
  • Takes preventive steps to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation.
  • Closely follows physician instructions and positions patient properly to obtain diagnostic imaging studies.
  • Sets equipment to obtain the best density, detail and contrast of the area being imaged, minimizing the need for repeat imaging.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Certified Radiology Technician with diploma from accredited school
  • Minimum one year experience performing radiographic procedures
  • Current BLS certification from AHA
  • Phlebotomy skills and knowledge of various specimen collection techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal & written communication skills
  • Maintains quality results by running standards and controls
  • Verifies equipment function
  • Contributes to a safe and secure environment
  • Closely follows physician instruction
