Engaged and challenged… North Kansas City Hospital, in collaboration with Medical Education Development and Support, Inc. (MEDS) is excited to offer our Patient Care Technician Training Program. Are you interested in working directly with patients in the hospital?  Do you have a great customer service attitude? Are you a good team player? 

We are offering a 7-week program designed to train participants to start a career as a Patient Care Technician. The program consists of 4 weeks of classroom training immediately followed by 3 weeks of clinical instruction. During the seven-week training course, you will learn how to:

  • Provide direct patient care, including bed and bath duties
  • Work closely with nurses and other medical staff
  • Check vital signs
  • Transfer patients
  • Transport patients
  • Answer call lights

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Program Requirements

  • Start date: Monday, January 23, 2023
     
  • Length of training: 7 weeks
    • First 4 weeks: Monday-Friday - 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Last 3 weeks: Three 12-hour day shifts from 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. each week, including weekends and holidays.
    • 100% attendance required. There are no make-up days allowed.
  • After successfully completing the seven-week training program, you will begin your Patient Care Tech role, working three 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m. each week, including weekends and holidays.
