Summary
Meritas Health is seeking a Missouri licensed, certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant to join our established Comprehensive Surgical practice. This is a temporary position of approximately 12-16 weeks duration. It is a PRN position with mostly Friday, Saturday, and some Sunday hours.
Job Description:
Under the general direction of collaborating physicians, the advance practice provider (APP) utilizes advanced clinical and analytical skills to provide direct care and management of surgical patients. The APP demonstrates strong leadership, is an excellent communicator, and is effectively able to prioritize a large number of patients.
Job Duties:
- Assesses and evaluates patients, analyzes and interprets data, formulates problem lists and establishes plans for resolution of clinical problems.
- Obtains medical history and performs general/routine examinations under indirect supervision of physician.
- Assists in the OR under direct supervision of the physician and performs office procedures
- Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic testing such as blood work, radiologist studies, etc.
- Develops with the patient, caregivers and patient care team, a mutually acceptable cost-aware plan of care that maximizes health potential.
- Formulates a treatment plan which includes ordering diagnostic tests, selecting appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, identifying educational needs of the patient and family, developing a patient education plan and formulating a discharge/follow-up plan of care.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies OR Master’s Degree in Nursing and maintain board/association certification
- Licensed by the State of Missouri as a Physician Assistant or as a Registered Nurse to practice as an Advance Nurse Practitioner
- Previous surgical experience is preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA) required
- Proficiency with electronic health records and database management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
