Job Description:

As a patient service representative your role is to ensure every patient and their guest receives the best customer service possible and to make them feel valued and cared for.  You will be the face of the Meritas practice, checking patients in and/or out and performing administrative duties to prepare the patient for the providers.

Job Duties:

  • Complete patient registration and eligibility verification accurately and in a timely manner
  • Inform patients of their co-pay and deductible responsibility
  • Collect co-payments and record payments accurately
  • Check patients out and assist patients with scheduling follow up appointments
  • Coordinate receipt and transfer of patient medical records in a HIPAA-compliant manner
  • Answer phones, route calls, take messages and follow up when appropriate
  • Accurately assign CPT and diagnosis codes and/or collect all required information as needed for the services performed
  • Schedule appointments efficiently to meet provider and patient expectations
  • Prepare medical records for patient appointments timely and accurately
  • Exhibit positive customer service attitude in person and on the telephone
  • Demonstrate professionalism by accepting responsibility and accountability for actions, adhering to policies and procedures
  • Show leadership supporting Meritas initiatives

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Two years of experience in a physician’s office or healthcare setting
  • Customer service skills
  • Basic office skills 
  • CPT and diagnosis coding experience is a plus
