Summary
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist plays a critical role in optimizing the procurement and sourcing processes within a healthcare institution. Their primary responsibility is to identify cost-effective and high-quality suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships to ensure the hospital's procurement needs are met efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with the hospital's goals and objectives, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and risk mitigation.
- RFP Management: Lead the RFP process, including drafting RFP documents, defining evaluation criteria, and managing Supplier responses. Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Cost Analysis: Analyze costs and pricing structures to identify opportunities for savings and implement cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
- Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts with suppliers to obtain favorable terms, pricing, and conditions, while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers. Monitor and assess supplier performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with various hospital departments, including finance, operations, and clinical teams, to understand their procurement needs and align sourcing strategies accordingly.
- Market Research: Stay current with industry trends, market dynamics, and technological advancements in healthcare procurement to make informed decisions.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing, preferably within a healthcare setting.
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and vendor relationship management skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
- Excellent working knowledge of computer software such as Excel, Access, and computerized materials management systems.
License/CERT
Preferred: Certification by a recognized professional purchasing organization; Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional Supply Management (CPSM), or Certified Materials and Resource Professional (CMRP)
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
