Summary

SUMMARY: The Palliative Care Social worker will join a multidisciplinary team in providing skilled clinical assessment and interventions for people with chronic, complex, or life-limiting conditions and their families. The social worker is responsible for clinical consultation, advocating for interventions that alleviate burden and facilitate coping, recommending referrals and providing hands on support for accessing community services and resources. The Inpatient Palliative Care Team also participates as a site for the University of Kansas Palliative Medicine fellowship program, assisting with the education and practice of physician fellows during their yearlong fellowship.

EXPERIENCE: Palliative Care and/or Hospice. Working with pt/families with chronic, advanced illness. Minimum 3 years post Master's, working in healthcare setting.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Strong clinical skills. Ability to multitask and manage complex family situations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

OTHER: Proficient on computer. Ability to document in EMR, Word, Excel.

LICENSE/CERT: Preferred: LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker)

EDUCATION: Required: Masters - Social Work (CSWE approved)
