Summary

SUMMARY: At NKCH our ED RN/patient ratio is most often 1:3, but may flex up to 1:4 on occasion.  Additionally for staff support we have Clinical Supervisors, Clinical Educators and a designated Charge Nurse all to support your practice.  A new resource position recently commenced is the role of the mental health technicians who oversee the safety of our behavioral patients.  To assist in efficient and effective care we have instituted tele-neuro medicine for our stroke patients along with tele-psych medicine to assist in the care of our at risk patients. Under the direction of the Director-Nursing, the Emergency Department RN works in a multidimensional setting. Emergency nursing practice involves the assessment, analysis, nursing diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation of intervention.

EXPERIENCE: Previous Emergency Department experience or one year critical care experience.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Basic EKG; Hazmat within 1 year of hire; Incident Command training (ICS 100, 200, and 700) within 6 months of hire.Experienced nurses must have ACLS upon hire, graduate nurses and nurses new to Critical Care must attain ACLS within 12 months of hire/transition.

OTHER: Basic Computer Skills.

LICENSE/CERT: Required: RN (Registered Nurse) State of Missouri, BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association), ACLS (Advance Cardiac Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association) within 1 year of hire, ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) within 1 year of hire, TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) within 1 year of hire

EDUCATION: Required: Associates - Nursing, Preferred: Bachelors - Nursing
