Summary
SUMMARY: Under the direction of the department director, coordinates, assigns and directs respiratory services. Assists department director in technical and administrative task as assigned. Holds staff accountable for assigned duties and behavior expectations. Able to assign duties with fair and reasonable expectations for patient safety. Able to work in all areas of the hospital. Able to perform or assist with bronchoscopy procedures. Performs bedside pulmonary function testing. Evaluates therapist performance, gives counseling if needed. Monitors patient care with audits and direct supervision. Preceptor for new staff and students.
EXPERIENCE: Two years experience as a supervisor or three years as charge therapist in an acute care setting.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Good communicator, leadership skills. Able to sit on hospital committees as assigned. Able to give in services in respiratory care topics as assigned. Hold shift meeting.
OTHER: Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC
LICENSE/CERT: Required: BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association), ACLS (Advance Cardiac Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association), ACCS (Adult Critical Care Specialty), RT (Respiratory Therapist)
EDUCATION: Required: Associates - Respiratory Therapy, Preferred: Bachelors - Respiratory Therapy
