Summary

The Philanthropy Gift Officer works closely and collaboratively with the rest of the philanthropy team and the position provides a unique opportunity to help build and grow the philanthropy program. The individual is responsible for soliciting major gifts across a variety of clinical areas, cultivating and stewarding donors, and fostering a culture of philanthropy at North Kansas City Hospital. 

For more than 65 years, North Kansas City Hospital has been Northland's preferred healthcare provider. From our award-winning cardiovascular and orthopedic programs to our cancer, emergency, neurosciences, spine, women’s and other services, we provide a lifetime of care. NKCH is an acute care facility with 451 licensed beds and 550 physicians representing 49 medical specialties. Through our Meritas Health subsidiary, NKCH offers the largest network of physician practices in the Northland, with more than 280 primary and specialty care doctors and advanced practice providers in 35 convenient locations. 

In 2022, the Philanthropy Department was established at NKCH to advance our mission and support the health system’s strategic goals. Our philanthropy team helps ensure NKCH will have the resources needed to deliver advanced patient care well into the future. 


EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in direct fundraising/solicitation.
  • Experience working in healthcare or higher education development is preferred.
  • Excellent communication (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate a deep commitment to the culture of gratitude and philanthropy.
  • Demonstrated confidence and experience in public speaking.
  • Ability to set priorities and adapt as necessary within a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people within and outside North Kansas City Hospital.
  • Maturity, presence, and diplomacy are essential skills.
  • Must be able to treat confidential information with a high level of discretion.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in utilizing a CRM.
  • Clearly and consistently demonstrates the Hospital's mission, vision, and values in words and actions.


SPECIAL SKILLS: Capability to independently initiate, organize, and follow through with program goals and initiatives. Proven ability to make presentations effectively, lead and participate in meetings, gain the commitment of others and communicate in a leadership environment. Provides information to donors and other hospital stakeholders (internal and external) in a timely manner.

EDUCATION: Required: Bachelors - Related Field, Preferred: Masters - Related Field

*Note: This position will be filled at the Philanthropy Officer, Associate Director or Director level, commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications.*
